This shows you the general maximize size a fish can be (you can change to a particular type too, like Common, rather than Trophy if you're not going for Trophy sizes). Alternatively, you can check the rankings (top right hand corner of the paused screen) for that location and for a particular species to see global records. The good fishing spots, hook sizes, line weights, etc you have to learn yourself or ask others for guidance. It also shows you, when you click on a species, the baits and lures that species likes. You can use this to see all the fish species and types (Young, Common, Trophy, Unique) that are available at a particular fishing spot. If you look at your map tab (not the actual map) when paused when you're at a fishing location, you should see "Fish Species" as one of the sub tabs on the left hand side. Smallmouth are also caught in the large northern part of the lake, like catfish. If you don't have a feeder rod yet, just use your float rod and using semolina balls you should eventually get one. Smallmouth Buffalo can also be caught with feeder rods, but rather than pet food, use semolina balls. Using a feeder rod to put pet food at the bottom of that deep hole is a sure way to hook catfish.

You can use a marker to mark that hole on the map, and you can then see the float marker when you're aiming your cast. You'll notice that there's a deep hole on the north side of the lake. When you're at the lake, hit the M key to bring up your map. You can either make your leader as long as possible for a float rod, or you can use a feeder rod (uses sinkers to put your bait on the bottom).
